Service Coordinator Opening
Developmental Disability Advocates’ Service Coordination Team is seeking qualified applicants to fill an opening for a Service Coordinator.
Position Description:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. A Service Coordinator works as part of a team to identify and coordinate necessary services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families who live in Jefferson County. Individuals served are age 3 and older and live in a variety of settings. The Service Coordinator also develops strong working relationships with community service agencies and assists in identifying and developing needed services.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited four year college / university. Preference will be given to individuals with degrees in psychology, social work, special education, nursing or comparable degree.
- A minimum of one year of direct or indirect experience in the field of developmental disabilities. Direct experience is defined as being a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team in assessing, developing, or implementing Individual Support Plans (ISP’s) for persons with developmental disabilities. Indirect experience is defined as being a volunteer for an agency or program whose primary mission is to provide resources / supports to individuals with developmental disabilities; or have lived with and supported a family member with a developmental disability.
- Ability to communicate (verbally and orally) in an effective, proper, and clear manner.
- Able to drive independently to and from home visits, site visits, meetings, etc.
- Strong critical thinking / problem solving skills.
- Working knowledge and skill set to utilize multiple computer formats / systems.
- Interact with community agencies serving those with a developmental disability.
